The World

For some reason I’m drawn to these flag scenes. It’s the colours, yes, and the pure life inherent in the wind and the flapping fabric. But mostly I think it’s the underlying metaphor of life, cooperation, distinctiveness, yet unity: the idea that if we can get along long enough to compete in sporting events (like this one at Spruce Meadows, Alberta) then maybe there’s also hope for the wider stage.

I’m still holding out for world peace.
